Last day in WizVision

June 13th, 2007 by edwinleonardi

Tomorrow is my last day working in Wizvision after almost one year of valuable lessons. I admit that I have learnt a lot, more than myself can wonder. Those hard times of overtime seems to have paid off. I get to know some funny..and .. stress people at the client site ..Hahaha, including the experience of occasional starve due to skipping meals…still remember Ta-Paoing McDonalds, and drinking MILO from unlimited supply in the pantry.
I recalled the day I stepped to this office, and I sat in a table facing the window view. High trees blocking the view, seems being surrounded by the jungle.
And deep down rose the desire to work here, and the wish was granted.
Lunch time is my fav time, coz frankly we have many choices, and every meal is affordable and yummy. We would talk for long discussing new movies screening in Singapore, buying houses and exhanging culture from different country.
Maybe this is the hardest thing to give up on the termination.
2 weeks from now is NEW place, NEW view, NEW colleague, NEW food, NEW bus route, NEW lesson, and NEW soul.
Just want to get through day by day!

Such a complainer

April 24th, 2007 by edwinleonardi

Yeap that’s me. I am a complainer. I complain a lot, sometimes when I do, it takes hours to switch back to my normal mode.
There are just things around that are ready on the grab to be my complain topic, can be people, weather, long waiting busES, food, movies, world news.
Guess I am too way wanting things to be exactly how I want it to work.
Or maybe I am one that is hard to be pleased.
Yeah I agree with both of the two rationals. I self-consult and find out that I have not gained a true satisfaction yet in my life. I just look for the bad sides in the hope of finding the good ones so that in turn when I finally find the good ones, I will SMILE  and my soul will DANCE. When the moment comes, I just absorb double ecstasy

At Cathay

December 13th, 2006 by edwinleonardi

Currently laying on the cathay sofa waiting for Eragon on 21.50, still got one and half hour more. Thankfully, I bring along my company’s notebook and quickly connect to the hot spot here..hehehe.
Last week, a good friend of mine, Rosie paid for a visit while on her way back to Medan. She is in 3 months holiday, just finished her bachelor courses. She decided to continue for a Master degree early next year. How hardworking she is..
We went out shopping..hahaha..window shopping most exactly…She just bought a 900 dol digicam, and we quickly made use of it. The most prominent target would be Orchard. Yeah we took hundred of pictures that day…of different angle, different pose, trial and error efforts were made to make sure we got the best shot. And frankly, though tiring, but I enjoyed it.
Well, the last two weeks, I wished that the project I was involved in would soon be over, however, it turned out that major and minor problems still came along.
It dragged out all my patience now, it’s like doing things that you yourself do not have a clue when it’s going to end.
Oh yeah, just watched World Trade Center yesterday, got the movie from my friend. I gave a C+ mainly because the movie title and the theme did not suit at all. The movie did not explicitly draw to us what happened on 9/11, only I saw was just two man being trapped beneath the building cracks, and potrayed how they pulled each other out to stay alive. It’s more to drama than the action itself…quite disappointed…in a sense that I almost got to sleep in the middle of the movie.

Singapore Science Centre

December 3rd, 2006 by edwinleonardi

The peak had come…Thursday marked as the day where I worked for exactly 15 hours…Unbelieavable…Hahaha! and I still had to get up early at 9 on the next day.
Seems that my biological time changes abruptly….I could not count again how many times I skipped my dinner, and ended up losing several pounds. Hope that all of these is worth it !
And I am telling you now…I have to go to work again later at 10 pm on SUNDAY….10 PM..and I dunno until when…Really really testing my patience!
This weekend, again my friend and I planned to spend on Kusu Island, but unfortunately we missed the ferry, and it was the last ferry to depart on that day.
However, plan B came right away, as we agreed to head to Singapore Science Centre.
None of us have ever been there, and plus I always like to go to new places.
We reached there on 3.30 pm, and quickly moved to the ticket counter.
We purchased a special deal package inclusive of a ticket to IMAX theatre. There were two movies to pick, Deep Sea at 6 and Roving Mars at 5, and both are documentary movies lasted for 40 minutes. Actually we should have chosen Deep Sea, but instead we swang to Roving Mars.
Science centre is quite huge, there are lots of alleys and divisions for particular major of science, and it’s cool that we can hands-on many experiments instead of just standing and reading the tag for each item in the gallery.
Coming to the end, we entered the observatory for stars gazing…and for the first time I saw the MOON surface in 5 meters away from a telescope…It looked exactly the same as the one I used to watch on TV or read in the text books.
That day had opened my eyes that human can just do things beyond imagination.
They could come up with science evidence proving that one state can exist.
And their breakthrough just reveals how powerful we can be

Sentosa

November 26th, 2006 by edwinleonardi

Just watched Survivor for the 11th episode, and the show is just getting better each week.
My fav characters still survive though, which of course the only thing that drives me to follow the show.
Bought my flight ticket, again with my own money :(. hahaha! I have to, otherwise I will spend my first chinese new year out of hometown. PS : I have not applied for company leaves for this one. Got to talk to the boss first thing tomorrow.
After wandering the whole travel agency in Chinatown, I continued my weekend with my Chinese colleague who happen to live around that district. We went to Vivo City, and intended to catch a movie, but the plan was canceled for a long queue, and some tickets for premiere movies were sold out.
We headed to the highest level of the mall and found ourselves outdoor viewing the Sentosa Island and other small isles. Ships were laying above the sea, most of them carrying containers. However, the scene was really really nice. A wonderful investment for the shareholders!!!
We decided to spend the day later in Sentosa. My friend told me that he had not seen the ‘magical fountain’, and I agreed to accompany him, since I had not been there for almost two years, so taking a look of the island progress would not be such a bad idea.
And Yes, the island did not change much, figured out that there were several new attractions, but all of them were not free, and the entry fare was costly, and of course we would not wasted my money for a minute entertainment.
Speaking of free amusement, we realized we had to be in the fountain at most one hour before the show. I think we got there exactly pre- one hour. The venue was almost fully seated, and we managed to settle in the east wing.
Ok now the best thing was the part when the rain kicked in. Hahaha! Everybody knew how important an item called umbrella that moment, and we did not have one, well, not just us, and the other 500 people? So in the end, the SHOW MUST GO ON, we had to bare with the drizzle, at some times it got heavier.
The 20-minutes-run show ended with the applause from the audiences, and I myself was again amazed, though I believe the scenario of the show was totally the same as the one I watched last time. My friend describe it as FABULOUS, above all, we hated the stupid SENTOSA FICTION MONKEY called KIKI. Hahaha! What a name!
We were really worn out that day, but we had another plan coming up next week..
That is the Kusu Island…Noone has an idea what it is and where it is….Gosh!could it be the last attraction we could find in Singapore?
Just don’t get how Singaporean enjoy themselves instead of shopping

High and Low above the ground

November 22nd, 2006 by edwinleonardi

Hi All,
I found it awkward to post the blog on the ordinary day such as Wednesday.
Well, that is because I am off today after spending 6 hours standing (almost faint) in the server room.
Came home from work at 10pm yesterday, straight went to bed and had to wake up at 2, coz I had to go to client side at 3 a.m IN THE MORING, WALAWE!!!
Yup, couldn’t catch up a nice sleep in the end
With 2 hours sleep and a tummy full of instant noodle and cereal, I came out to the bus station and waved for a taxi. Gosh!!!Never in this life!
When I arrived there, I just imagined that in the afternoon, this place is as wild and crowded as HELL, but this dawn I hardly caught a life there.
Anyway, I still had to wait for my Project Manager to arrive, and that took 15 minutes.
Sharp at 3, we headed up and went to the production room.
Frankly this was the first time I experienced this, and I was pretty sure that not everyone was given the same opportunity as I was.
Everything seemed to go smoothly before 5, and suddenly the network problem hit and strucked the process. It pended for hours and hours , while both side tried to fix the problem.
In the end, the next support team came at 10, and that was the time we were allowed to leave, but shortly after, they informed us that the deployment had been successful.
I continued patching my shortage of sleep as soon as I had my breakfast.
And now I just wake up after 3 hours nap, and I am alone here in the house..Hahaha!
Not fun le…but just enjoy it…

Nothing special about weekends anymore

November 12th, 2006 by edwinleonardi

I always could not wait for the weekends to come. Ya’ know, rest at home, watching non-stop series, shopping, and most importantly being away from workplace.
However, since my comeback last two weeks, weekends are just weekends.
I am getting the boredom of Singapore lifestyle..quite to take place for the next few months. :p
I just knew my time working in the client’s place seems to be endless.
As more tests are conducted, more and more debugs have to be done. FYI, I have been working overtime for almost 15 hours a week. And guess wat, they are non-paid ones. So All I can do it is just to bear it at least til the end of year, provided we are not behind the schedule.
On the brightside of this situation, I learn to be patient and be more responsible of things that even you do not belong to. That is the commitment, just being proud that at least I am in a tiny tiny percentage of the whole giant project. It will build a good resume for me in the future as well.
Ehm, today I knew an artist can be as jerk as any other ordinary human beings.
I read the news of Faith Hill being caught upset and angry on the backstage during the winner announcement of Best Female Vocalist in Country Music Awards held few days ago.
They had the video taped when she shouted "what", lifting up her arms and walking away after finding out that Carrie Underwood won.
It’s such a shame, and the video have been rewinded over and over again since the incident, and broadcasted widely, even on CNN. God forbid if she still earns her fans’ heart…
Got to go now, have to send an email to my bro, I have been losing contact lately as the impact of the BU(ZS)INESS.

Tanah Merah : Pulau Ubin

November 5th, 2006 by edwinleonardi

This morning I thought it was not a good idea to go for outdoor activity as I merely slept 6 hours the day before.
Thankfully, the trip was awesome..Though I have absolutely 100 percents in my mind rite now not to ever ever go there. This is mainly because NOTHING’s there..Hahaha!
It’s pure nature
I have never been to this kind of site before, not even in my 2 decades of life in my hometown.
The day began with me and my other colleagues renting 3 bikes for 6 bucks each.
As we rode through the whole island, the insects whistled along the way. Green, green and green view. A nonstop ride for almost 5 hours!
Going uphill and downhill, deep to the core of the island, and JUNGLE…yup jungle with only high trees, canopies, and falling leaves scattered on the ground…..and in some other time we would sit down and have cold drinks and coconut, taking pictures.
It made my day…Now I have been to the most southern and eastern of Singapore!!!!!!!!!!!
Have I mentioned there is a lake, river and sea at this place ? Yes, I saw all of them.
